Safety Footwear Guide
- Electrical Hazard Footwear (EH)
- EH footwear provides a source of protection to the wearer from electrical shock in environments where the wearer may accidentally step on a live wire or charged electrical equipment. EH footwear should not be worn in environments where the wearer will intentionally come into contact with a live electrical circuit.
- Static Dissipative Footwear (SD)
- SD footwear allows static electricity to transfer from the wearer to the walking surface, thereby protecting equipment such as sensitive electronic devices from static electric discharge which could damage the equipment.
- Dual Resistor SD
- Dual Resistor SD is a Warson Brands patented technology (US Patent 6,421,222) that precisely and reliably provides 1 to 10 megohms of electrical resistance, ensuring that the footwear meets the SD 10 standard. With two resistors embedded in the midsole of the shoe, Dual Resistor SD footwear protects equipment by dissipating static electricity to the walking surface. Dual Resistor SD also acts as a fail-safe system; should one resistor fail, the second will continue working to dissipate static electricity.
- Conductive Footwear (CD)
- CD footwear is designed for wear in highly volatile environments such as munitions plants, petroleum refineries, and rocket fuel production facilities where a static discharge could cause an explosion. Conductive footwear offers no electrical resistance and allows all electricity to pass from the wearer to the walking surface, thereby preventing static buildup and discharge.
- ASTM F2413
- The official standard for safety toe protective footwear in the United States.
- ASTM F2892
- The official standard for soft toe protective footwear in the United States. (Non-Safety/Non-Protective Toe)
- Composite Toe
- A toe cap made from a non-ferrous elastomeric material, which is light weight and will not conduct heat, cold or electricity. Meets or exceeds the ASTM F2413 standard for protective footwear.
- Steel Toe
- Non-corrosive toe caps used in footwear to provide protection for the toe area. Meets or exceeds the ASTM F2413 standard for protective footwear.
- Soft Toe
- No toe cap protection.
- XTR® Brand Composite Toe Cap
- The XTR® Brand composite toe cap provides extra toe room and comfort; is lightweight, strong as steel and will not conduct heat, cold or electricity. The XTR® Brand composite toe cap meets or exceeds the ASTM F2413 standard for protective footwear.
- XTR® Brand Alloy Toe Cap
- The XTR® Brand alloy toe cap contains a specialized blend of metals to minimize weight and maximize protection. The alloy blend allows for a sleek appearance while providing extra room in the toe box. The XTR® alloy toe cap is lighter than steel, while still meeting or exceeding the ASTM F2413 standard for protective footwear.
- XTR® Brand Carbon Toe Cap
- The XTR® Brand carbon toe cap contains a specialized blend of carbon and composite materials to reduce weight and maximize toe room for increased comfort. The XTR® carbon toe cap is lightweight, and will not conduct heat, cold, or electricity. The XTR® carbon toe cap meets or exceeds the ASTM F2413 standard for protective footwear.
- Metatarsal Guard
- A reinforced layer in the metatarsal portion of the footwear that protects the metatarsal bones by deflecting falling objects and absorbing impact energy. Traditionally used in areas where there is a higher risk of objects falling or rolling onto the metatarsal area of the worker’s foot.
- Slip Resistant
- Soles designed to provide a high coefficient of friction with the walking surface to improve slip resistance. Meets or exceeds ASTM F3445, the offical standard for slip resistant shoes in the united states.
- Metal Free
- Footwear that contains zero metal. 100% metal free. It is ideal for jobs that require working around sensitive metal detectors.
- Insulated
- Insulation material added to the lining in boots to help keep the foot warm and comfortable in colder environments.
- Hydrotex Waterproof
- A combination of water-resistant materials and construction which helps protect the foot from getting wet in environments where excess water is present. Moisture wicking nylon gets moisture out. A hydrotex waterproof membrane keeps it out. All of it.
- Foot Force® Footbed
- A soft molded dual density polyurethane removable insole that cushions and cradles your foot, provides additional shock absorbing polyurethane ball and heel pads and a moisture absorbing fabric covering.
- Side Zip
- Quick-access side zipper for the convenience of a slip-on shoe in a 6” to 8” boot.
- Made in the USA
- Enough said.
- External Met Guard
- Pretty straight forward. It protects you when you drop things on your foot
- Cushguard Internal Met Guard
- Internal metguard. Devastatingly tough, surprisingly comfortable.
- Slip Resistant On Oily Surfaces
- Soles designed and tested to provide a high coefficient of friction with the walking surface to improve slip resistance in dry and wet conditions
- Ladder Latch Defined Heel
- Helps turn ladders into stairs. When your boot stands up straight, so will you.
- Bootbed Dual Layered Memory Foam Removable Footbed
- Removable insole constructed with open cell polyurethane and memory foam. Its like break-time for your feet– all the time.
- Good Year Welt Construction
- There’s a reason this is the way it’s been done for over a century. No sole separation, even in the toughest and hottest conditions.
- Permabond Construction
- There’s two ways to put a sole on a boot– welted and direct-attached. This is both of them. And with perma bond technology with a durable polyurethane outsole. It’s guaranteed to last. We’re so confident in our toughest construction that we guarantee it against separation or cracking due to normal use for up to one year
- Vibram Heat Resistant Outsole
- Takes 3-digit heat so you don’t have to.
- Kevlar Stitching
- Flame retardant, self-extinguishing, and thermally stable. The toughest stitch on the market. Seriously - it’s kevlar.
- Scuff Tough
- Okay, it can be scuffed, but its really really hard to do. Keep on kicking.
